STORAGE

Battery storage is a rapidly evolving technology that is typically used alongside solar PV.

It allows surplus energy from renewable energy sources to be stored for later use rather than exported to the National Grid.

This provides an answer to one of the biggest challenges faced by renewable energy providers - which is the intermittent nature of such technologies.

Battery storage offers a way to capture clean energy and balance energy generation against demand. It has also proven very efficient with a long life cycle and low maintenance costs.

Flexible technologies like batteries will form part of the UK's smarter electricity grid, supporting the integration of more carbon power, heat and transport technologies which it is estimated could save the UK energy system up to £40 billion by 2050.
